The Jazz Under the Stars concert is a huge honor for the LCMS Jazz Band. Hagerty High School hosts the event where several schools are invited to play. Guests enjoy music performed by high school and middle school bands. At this event the LCMS Jazz Band played El Mercader de Groove, Fat Freddy, Fast Forward, Adelieland, and Hip Hip Hop.

The Jazz students have to put lots of effort into the music they have in class because it is significantly hard music to play. Their instruments and skills must be finely tuned to play high notes and difficult rhythms. This is why dozens of  students come to practice in the morning. The band room is open to any band student who wants to practice. Mariana Delia, who plays Tenor Sax in the Jazz Band says that because she doesn’t do a sport, as band is her life. Many band students love the feeling of being in a big group and playing music together.

Alexandra Borgon (8) just finished her solo in Adelieland. The crowd applaused her performance, as customary for soloists in Jazz Bands. Photo by Mila Kiray.
