From April 9-11th a group of yearbook students participated in an event called FSPA. FSPA stands for Florida Scholastic Press Association and it is a convention centered around contests and lessons about everything yearbook. This year the yearbook staff won 5 convention contests and 4 digital contests.
On Thursday, the staff got to the convention and were given a prompt for contests that they had around 6 hours to complete. They all finished by 9:45 and won many of the contests they entered with their quickly made spreads, photos, and stories. Friday was core class driven and from 9am to 2:30, students thrived on caffeine and snacks to get through class each hour. Later that night was an awards banquet in which everyone learned if they had won Best of the Best. Once the banquet ended the group took a well deserved break in the lobby filled with laughter and snacks until curfew rolled around and everyone went back to their rooms. Then, once again, on Saturday the staff attended another awards ceremony and then were finally able to go home and get some well earned rest.
