Newsies Jr.

As you may know, for this year’s LCMS Spring Show, we will be presenting Newsies Jr! Newsies is a hit Broadway musical about a group of newspaper delivery boys who go on strike in the summer of 1899 to fight the rising prices of the papers they are selling. The newsies are led by Jack Kelly (played by Gavin Lovelady) to fight the oppression of Pulitzer (played by Jackson Kotrch), the head of the newspaper company they sell papers for. Other notable roles are Crutchie (played by Colton Fitch), Davey (played by Luke Coyle), Kathrine Plumber (played by Ana Domit), Les (played by Scarlet Duncan), and Medda Larkin (played by Summer Butler).

Over the course of the next few months, the cast will work hard to memorize their lines, choreography, and staging. They have already begun rehearsing scenes, songs and choreography. It won’t be easy, but they will perform the show in April. “I’m very impressed with how much work kids did outside of rehearsals, and I hope to see actors taking the risk of going off book and trying new things without their script,” said Mrs. T.
