The LCMS rock garden is located down stairs next to building four. At the end of every year, our 8th graders, who are leaving and going to high school next year, paint their own, unique, fun, and different rocks to put in the rock garden. They do this to leave their legacy and to leave their mark on the school. It actually used to be over by building two, from an anti bullying group (Voice Out). They moved it over because people were stepping on the garden beds. One student, Carla, (who is now at Hagerty high school) got with Mrs. Higley as a girl scout project. It is a rock garden but some people don’t know that it is a butterfly garden too. The plants there attract butterflies to the garden. Some of the flowers that are in the rock garden are Pansy, France marigold, Vince, Viola, and a couple other types of flowers. She even got the flower donated by Lowe’s. It is now run by the 6th grade ELA teacher, Mrs. Higley.
Charlotte Johnston (6) said, “It’s cool, pretty, and has nice rocks, and I look forward to doing it in 8th grade.”
This is a great way to look at all the past popular things from the last couple years that they have been doing it. They have only done it for 3-4 years so far, but lots to come.
