Since the beginning of the year, 7th graders have been reading a book called The Outsiders in their ELA classes. Now that they have finally finished, it’s time for them to watch the Outsiders movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The movie starred C. Thomas Howell as Ponyboy Curtis. S. E. Hinton, the author of the novel, even made an appearance in the movie. She played a nurse in Dallas Winston’s hospital room. While the 7th graders watched the movie, the students compared both the movie and the book, noting the differences and similarities.
