Veterans Day is a day to honor all veterans that are in service, out of service and even the deceased. This day is held on November 11th every year. It originated as Armistice Day in 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I but was changed to Veterans Day in 1954 to pay tribute to all American veterans from all eras. People celebrate veterans day by attending ceremonies, flying the flag at their house or workplace, moments of silence, writing thank you letters, parades, and visiting memorials. Workplaces also offer discounts and even free items to Veterans on Veterans Day. Our very own LCMS choir students make veteran letter and Ms. Swallow delivers them to an organization where the veterans get the letters. So if you see a veteran on 11/11 thank them for their service!
