Learning a new instrument is a tricky and tedious process. Learning songs can be a tricky and tedious process. Every year at Lawton Chiles there is a new beginning band, usually averaging 100-150 students spread among 3 periods. There are tons of instruments to select from. From the woodwinds that use their reeds, to the brass instruments that buzz into their mouthpieces, to even the instruments that don’t use their mouths to play at all (percussionists use their hands rather than blowing or buzzing into instruments.) Mrs. Kuperman and Mrs. Autrey work diligently to help teach their students. On October 22nd–a wednesday– Beginning Band held their first concert in the gymnasium at our school. They played some of the lessons they’ve been learning like Lesson 1 and Lesson 2. They also played Hot Cross Buns, French Song, Lamb Chop, and Lamp Chop Harmony. From having only played their instruments for a few weeks, they did a splendid job. Great job Beginning Band, we look forward to see your progress at the next concert!
