Our September Open House was combined with Meet the Teacher in August this year to create a new version of this traditional event.
Meet the Teacher is an event that gives LCMS students the opportunity to walk their schedule, and allows parents to meet the teachers face-to-face. This helps everyone feel more comfortable and ready for their first day of school.
This year, though, the event was not only called Meet the Teacher, but also Open House. In years past, open house happened a month or two into the school year so that parents could check how everything works at the school. In the last couple of years, however, the attendance wasn’t what the school had expected.
“Open House has been poorly attended in the past few years, so we moved the date up. August 8th will be the time for parents to meet teachers face-to-face,” Principal Dr. Laudani said when asked about the new change.
When this change took place, parents welcomed it with open arms. What was normally a scarcely attended event turned into a hit. The number of people skyrocketed from the years previous, crowding the hallways and sending lines to meet each teacher to the next classroom.

Throughout all the chaos, though, the overall energy was positive. Dr. Taylor, Vice Principal at LCMS, believes that even after four years of seeing Meet the Teacher, it is important for everyone to come. “The teachers get to meet their students that will be there that year and also they get to see former students come back to say hello,” he said.
Ms. Campbell, a 7th grade ELA teacher, agreed. “It’s really exciting to see all of my new students’ faces and then get to see them on the first day,” she said.
Although Meet the Teacher has changed, it remains a welcoming experience and useful event for everyone– teachers, staff, students, and even parents! Remember to come back next year!
