As the fourth quarter starts, band students prepare to take a higher band class. To get into the Symphonic or Jazz Bands, students must audition. They are given a small piece to play, alongside every scale they know. Students that want to advance in their level of playing can audition for Symphonic Band, where they play harder music. Jazz Band is the highest band at LCMS. Not every instrument can enter in Jazz Band, while in Symphonic Band, every band student can try out. Whether students are trying out for Jazz or Symphonic Band, they eagerly practice their music to get in.
