Hurricane Milton was devastating for everyone. On October 7, models showed a category 3 hurricane hitting Oviedo directly. On that same day, Milton advanced to a category 5 hurricane with winds of over 180 mph and a pressure of 897, which was the second strongest hurricane on this side of the world according to pressure. At that point, the hurricane neared the mathematical limit of what our atmosphere could produce. That is why our school was a shelter for people who don’t feel safe in their home or don’t have a home. LCMS provided them with food and shelter throughout the storm. Just before Milton, Florida got a big hurricane named Helene. And that hurt a lot of people in the Tampa area of Florida. Lots of towns struggled to go from one hurricane to another, as they were so close together.

Hurricanes… These storms can be deadly at their strongest. That is why you and your family also need to be prepared for the worst. So, if you want to be ready for the next disaster, pack or buy a first aid kit. Here’s what you’ll need if you make your own: Bandages, cloth tape, antibiotic packets, aspirin, and emergency blanket, instant cold compress, and tweezers. Hurricanes can be unpredictable for when they build up, and it is always important to be prepared, just in case another one appears at the time you least expect it.
