Did you hear the announcement, “Do you like reading?” People at LCMS have advertised this club, but what really is Battle of the Books?
Battle of the Books is a club for students who want to have an hour in their lives to sit down and read a good book. The club members read the 15 Sunshine State books for that year, which are also read by students all over the state Florida. At the end of the year, schools throughout the district compete to see who knows the books best.
The teacher that leads Battle of the Books is eighth grade science teacher, Mrs. Heckle, who has loved books for a long time. “I love to read. I’m a science teacher, but I still love it! People should join Battle of the Books because reading is so much fun,” Mrs. Heckle said.
Battle of the Books meets every other Wednesday in Mrs. Heckle’s classroom (4-217) from 8-9 A.M. So, if you like to read and have a competitive spirit, make sure join!
