On April 9, 2025, Mrs. T’s Jr. Thespians went to the Black Box and had an improv workshop with college students. The Seminole State students taught our Jr. Thespians three improv games; Freeze, Genres, and Four Square. Freeze is a game where performers are given an environment and what they’re doing the environment. The second game they learned was Genres. In this game, actors are given an environment, what they’re doing in the environment, and a genre, or a category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter. The final game they played was Four Square. Four actors form a square with four groups of two people. One by one, each group is given an environment, extreme emotion, occupation, or relationship.
