LCMS Student Emily Lentz is working on her civics worksheet, her partner next to her. Emily is a student in Mrs. Stone's 7th period. "It helped me understand how we made our rules and how Baron Montesquieu and John Locke thought about how government should be," Emily says.
Students rushing around, filling out their papers hurriedly, working together. These are all traits of what the Civics Amazing Race was like! On September fourth and fifth, students from all the Civics classes worked on filling out a civics worksheet in the hallway. But the fun twist, it was a race! Hence the name, Amazing Race. There were 3 winners from each class each period. If you are one of the top three to finish the challenge first, you get a prize. Mrs. Illemsky, Mrs. Haddox, Mr. Bond, and Mrs. Stone are the civics teachers who coordinated the race. From a normal worksheet into a fun and team-work-encouraging event, the civics teachers did an awesome job!
