On April 24th, LCMS students had their opening night of the musical “The Little Mermaid Jr.” The show has sold around 300 tickets and stars Elina Garcia as Ariel, Evan Lam as Prince Eric, Luke Coyle as Sebastian, Gavin Schneider as King Triton, Zoe Hotchkiss as Ursula, Scarlet Duncan as Flounder, Barron Kamp as Scuttle, and Gustavo Nater Huertas as Grimsby. The students worked on the show for many months and had dozens of rehearsals. Additionally, each prop was handcrafted by the cast and tech team.
The cast and crew faced many challenges on opening night, but they pushed through and made the show work! They have one more performance on Saturday, April 26.
The play centers around Ariel, a young mermaid who wants nothing more than to live on the surface, out of the sea. She then strikes a deal with the sea witch responsible for killing her mother. The deal: She has three days as a human to get Prince Eric to kiss her… without her voice.
